Default Jonathan McClanahan restoration of Lyon & Healy parlor guitar

Hey guys! I just wanted to show you guys my latest restoration. Check out the You Tube link to listen to it. Steve Smith of Cumberland Acoustics commissioned me to restore his Lyon Healy parlor guitar. Because of an unfortunate circumstance, the top of this guitar was crushed. Many of the glue joints were loosened as well. I put a new top on it with a more modern bracing pattern than the original (It sounds much better and much more stronger) and yes I cleaned up the glue on the interior of the top! I added original 7 ply binding with split herringbone to the top to go with the back. The neck was entirely too thick so I shaved it down and gave it a little more pronounced "V" shape. The heel was very fat and lacked a delicate curve so I took it down also. I added an ebony ring around the sound hole with spit herringbone. The back and sides are absolutely beautiful white oak. Steve wanted me to age it so I opted for a little more darker stain look on the top. I had a great time Steve! Lets do it again! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZut...ature=youtu.be . Very clever work there Jonathan,on an outrageously beautiful looking guitar belonging to a guy who obviously knows where to go to get a good job done,

Stunning work and a beautiful guitar. There is a special place in my heart for ones like this. A true ragtime machine...
