The rest of April is so going to drag for you My OM should be ready about the same time.
I wonder who will get their Koa OM first ...

Well done Killian,
I have a 24.5" scale in between an octave mandolin and bouzouki - it is in fact a cut-down long-scale B1 bouzouki. I love its tone and playability. It is the best bouzouki I have owned by far.
Cheers
Nic Gellie
I am excited for sure, but I am definitely in the mind of, I've waited this long, another week won't kill me.
John, your's has a much shorter distance to travel, so you may win this one.
Killian, congratulations!
I've had many, many, many pleasant hours with my Crump zouk.
I'm looking fwd to seeing your pictures, too.
May all your time with yours be joyful.

Wow, yummy. Good call, Killian.
That is just cool. Phil does such nice and creative work, and I have always appreciated particularly his OM-II models with their deep body and two-point design (not to mention his necks and his 'bursts and his inlay work and his....). Congratulations, Killian!
WOW ~ that's a very nice OM you have there!
How does it sound/play? I bet nothing short of amazing. I've always admired Phil Crump's work.
Enjoy it in good health.

I was going to try to record it last night but I was just too tired to set up the recording equipment when I got home from work. Tonight I will persevere.
I am pretty blown away with the sound and feel of the instrument. I also quickly realized that my mandolin playing, thus far, has not prepared me for playing the OM other than learning where to put my fingers while playing melody.
I need to learn a whole bunch of new chords in order to take advantage of this incredible instrument.
I will try to figure out something I can play this evening in order to share it with you all.
K
D'oh! I didn't manage to record anything tonight, just played it.
Trying to play songs I've been learning on the mandolin is interesting with the increased finger stretch of the larger instrument. I feel like I've progressed a bit in the last few hours but I can see a long road ahead.
I promise something tomorrow even if it's just a video on my samsung smart phone.
Hey Killian,
Don't sweat the recordings. Have fun with her. You've waited long enough to get her. We can back off and give you some quality time with her before getting any recordings.

I would add that any new instrument is going to settle in, open up, vibrate and vibrate with the pressure of the strings and the tunes you play and play. It's new and will dry out a bit more and become what it can be. Play it a lot. It will make you better and make the instrument better.
My Crump was fantastic sounding right from the start - western red cedar soundboard and Rosewood back and sides. Phil has been dealing with lots of heavy personal stuff of late. It is great he is getting instruments out the door despite that. I rate his zouks right up with there with the best.

I have to agree with Nic. I think it sounds pretty amazing already. Last night I came to the conclusion that using my Wegen 150 pick seems to work best and I experimented a little bit with using different amounts of force on the strings.
What really blows me away is playing simple open string chords like (G) 0-0-2-3 or (C) 0-2-3-0 and listening to the warmth of the sound.I could probably just play that G chord and be happy.
Congrats Killian. Thats one good lookin' OM. Phil makes beautiful instruments. Looks and sound.
I've been pretty close to his shop a couple of times and thought about calling to see if I could drop by.
But, I knew if I did I would have ordered an OM. So I bit my lip and kept driving.
What scale is yours? I've been waiting for some feedback on his new[er] short scale models.
Keep practicing it'll come pretty easily and quickly. Just have to start using your little finger.
And, learn a lot of double stops for chords. Paraphrasing Tim O'B - 'It's all the same only different'.
OH, and forget what Pete says. We want sound clips now.
Have fun.

Gary,
Mine is the short scale OMIIs. I know how you feel. I wanted to hear a sound clip of the short scale before I ordered mine but was unable to, so getting some audio out there is imperative.
Phil makes wonderful instruments, and is a fine gentleman to boot. Congratualtions!
Oooh. Me want!
