Well OK, the bowed bases, but what can you do.
Enjoy.

Whoa, that was electrifying! I never imagined a plucked orchestra able to capture all the nuances of such a piece as the Tannhäuser overture (which is demanding enough even for a symphony orchestra, I can tell you!) but they did it quite admirably! Great playing, what big dynamic range - that is what a mandolin orchestra should sound like! Goosebumps-producing performance. Seriously, that knocked my socks off. Thanks for posting it, Jeff!

Yea I played it for way over an hour while working today. I was enjoying it as music, not just as mandolin music.

Hmmm... probably the best adaptation you can do with this instrumentation.
That said, I'll have to mention that classical music (in the wider sense) has been getting more and more dependent on instrumentation over the centuries - Bach or Händel can be played satisfactorily on one or two mandolins, but Beethoven is already a challenge, and Bruckner, Mahler, Wagner etc. fall apart if you take away just one kettle drum. Never try Gershwin without a clarinet or a number of car horns. That's one reason I like to stick with baroque.
Plus, I have to admit to having a personal problem with Wagner which has to do with memories of my mother listening to it all day long The best application I have encountered yet is in The Great Dictator.
