    Default Gibson-made Hayden GM-2 mandolin

Gibson made a few guitars and two mandolins branded "Hayden" for a dealer in the Pacific Northwest called L.D. Heater. I had never seen one of the mandolins until very recently. What's confusing about the Haydens is the Gibson shipping ledgers use the same model numbers as they did for the Cromwell brand, so the Hayden GM-4 below is basically a relabeled Cromwell GM-4. They also made a GM-2 which was a flat-top mandolin like the Kalamazoo KM-11, but the Hayden & Cromwell GM-4 were like the Kalamazoo KM-21 arched top mandolin. I believe all of these mandolins had pressed laminate backs and real carved spruce tops, but I'm not 100% sure. All I've seen are pictures. All of he Hayden mandolins date from 1936, as it was a very short-lived brand.
