After almost a year, I'm reviving this thread to see what progress has been made with this tune. Anybody got a transcription of David's breaks in the transitions from the A to the B parts? This tune recently popped back into my feeble memory and of course Google brought me back to the Café. What a resource!!

Using iReal and transposing from the original key of F to G - I haven't tried playing along with the Dawg, but this should be close:
A: C6/ C6/ Cm6/ Cm6
G6/ F#7/ G6/ G6
B: (1st ending)
E7/ E7/ E7/ E7
A7/ A7/ Am7/ D7
C: (2nd ending)
Bmb5 E7/ E7/ B7/ Em7
C6 C#dim/ D7/ G6 /G6 (+/or G7)
Song structure is ABAC, repeat infinitely.
In the intro and the outdo, Grisman does 1/2 step walk downs & walk ups from Bm7-Bbm7-Am7 (2233), then Ab7 (1132) or AbM7 (1133) and ends the song on GM7 (0022)
I think Chet Aktins arranged this in C for fingerpicking guitar; most swing bands play it in F unless the vocalist needs a different key.

Thank you John, I'll give your suggestions a try and come back to this thread. I saw the Chet and Mark K. youtubes and love them for that style and yes, key of C. I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for, perhaps a hybrid of Django and Dawg, oh and some of those fancy French players too. Already we have examples in the keys of F, G and C. This is going to take a bit of time...

When I first Googled this tune, I came across a version or two with Chet Atkins and Mark Knopfler. Very tasty indeed....sorry I already mentioned it in post #5. Hmmm, slow learner...there may be a connection....
