    Gulnihal is a young rose

    The song goes:
And again a young rose took my heart
Silver skin rosebud lips, that priceless beauty
Your hot face burns my heart
very agonizing very coquettish very youn very beautyfull

I hve never seen such a heart stealer
Such a face such a hand such an eye such an eyebrow
ogles to upset the bossom of love
    So egregious always nice

This song is written overnight for the ottoman imperor Abdülmecid by Dede Efendi

I can certainly figure out the notes but do you have sheet music? It doesn't exactly sound Turkish to me, at least not what I would think of as traditional Turkish, but I am not expert. Perhaps Western influenced by the French or the Italians?

You are right it sounds european, It is because the emperor Abdulmecid loved european music and asked Dede Efendi to compose a vals. I am not good at music theory but this piece is matching the Turkish rast and semai scales.

Thanks, Orkun, for the sheet music. That is a sweet tune. I played a duet with you this morning. I hope you enjoyed it.

Is this from a book of duets? I like some of the harmony lines in the second part.

Thank you I really enjoyed the duet
This is a set of 4 books. it is a very very old method set but after the first book there are lots of duets, Turkish and european. I will post recordings and sheet musics as I play.

Turkish food is good but I am a vegeterian for the moment so we can have mediteranean vegetables with olive oil
I wonder if there is a way to play a duet online over the internet...???

Possibly thru Skype but I have a feeling that there is sometimes a lag or pause in the transmission. I don't eat much meat anyway, mostly vegetables.

Very nice tune and nice playing, Orkun!

Thanks also for the score. I've just recorded a quick version of it, doubling the second mandolin one octave down on mandocello for a bit more bass end to the arrangement.

    First mandolin: Ceccherini bowlback
    Second mandolin: Mid-Missouri M-0W
    Mandocello: Suzuki MC-815
