    Default Newbie Intro

    Howdy all,

Another new convert to the mandolin revolution. Picked up my first as a Christmas present to myself and have been picking away for a couple of months now. Been lurking the forums and picked up a lot of useful info already (although I feel I should start arguing about picks for some reason...).

Taking an intro class through the local community college. The instructor has a regular jam session at a local bar I frequent, so I'm working on getting myself to the point where I can join in.

Welcome to the wonderful world of mandolins! It appears you've gotten off to a great start and have some great resources for learning. The best of luck to you! As for picks...just experiment. I've found that different picks suit different genres. Eventually you'll find a great everyday pick and a few specialty picks.

Welcome to the madness! I didn't realize there was a mandolin revolution, but hey, I'm always up for a good revolution! Do we need pitchforks?
