Ha, I got the e-mail from nickelcreek.com about streaming this track and immediately put an earbud in here at work to listen to it.
As I started to listen to it it struck me how "in the background" Thile seemed to be ... all I could hear was a very quiet chop. I was all like wow, he's really letting Sean and Sara take the front...
Turns out I only had the right ear bud in. The mandolin was almost entirely in the left channel.
I just thought that was funny...

At 10:08 am I tried to buy a ticket for the DC gig, and it says that all the tickets are in customer check out carts, and that should any customer not complete their purchase, the ticket will become available. Been saying that for the last 5 minutes or so. So either they're sold out already, or there's a glitch. bb
Can't believe how fast these sell out. Wow ! How do people get these tickets in a timely manner under normal circumstances ? Do the ticket brokers grab them all and remarket them at a terrific profit ?

I refreshed at 10.00 and picked up four tix for DC, glad I didn't wait 5 mins.
Well these are just presales, they only put some of the tickets up for the preseal. But I do expect the full up sales on Friday to go quickly.
The rest of the DC tickets went on sale today (Feb. 6). This time I did what KEB did; I logged into ticketfly in advance, and then refreshed right at 10:00, and I was able to get a ticket! bb
I couldn't get tickets to the May 3 show in DC. Then I went to the band's site and noticed a second show for May 4 was added and I was able to get tickets to that one.
<Insert witty saying here>
Good to hear you got some! I'm not surprised the 1st show sold out. When the Punch Brothers were here last year they had 2 shows. I went to one of them, and it was packed. And Chris's solo show at Strathmore last year was as well. bb
... I emailed my local venue, asking them to book NC. They've had Thile a few times, so there's a chance....

For anyone who bought tickets to the DC gig, did you elect to have them mailed to you (instead of the "will call" option), and if so, have you received them yet?
I chose the mailing option to avoid the "will call" line, and I haven't received my ticket yet. I did receive the confirmation email the same day I bought it (Feb. 6), which says I should have the ticket at least 7 days in advance of the show, which is still a couple of months out. So I guess I shouldn't be worried, but normally when the confirmation says this, I get the ticket a week or so after I've purchased it. Can't say I ever recall waiting 3-4 weeks. Otoh, I have not done this thru Ticketfly before, so perhaps this normal for them. bb
Nothing even close to me. The nearest one is Telluride, CO and that is about 7 hours away. blast it anyway.

Just picked up tickets for the Asheville NC show. Haven't seen Nickel Creek since Merlefest a loooong time ago and haven't seen Thile since he toured with Mike Marshall in '06.
Can't. Wait.
Wife must not have hated the Marshall/Thile show too much, she wanted to go with me to see Nickel Creek when they play Portland in May.
I love the new track. I wish I could go see them but I'm on the wrong side of the pond for that.
Would be great to see them here in the Uk too. I'll keep my fingers crossed
Saw Nickel Creek last night at Cain Park Amphitheater in Cleveland. This is a fairly intimate, outdoor venue, and the weather was perfect.
The Secret Sisters opened, and did a fine set of swampy, harmony-vocal-rich southern juke-style rock. Their set was a wonderful surprise plus for me.
Nickel Creek did not disappoint. They played a long, energy-filled and inspired set. I'm not sure I've ever seen an act so musically tight, and the sound quality was as good as I've ever heard. The band's banter and interaction with the audience was also a highlight. This concert experience was outstanding on all levels.
Chris Thile played his 1924 Loar-signed Gibson F5 on all but two songs. He played his Lawrence Smart A-style Mandola on one song, and his Flatiron bouzouki on a spirited version of Smoothie Song.
If you have a chance to see this band this summer, GO!

Sorry to miss you last night. We were back in row P at Cain Park. Perfect night- weather was wonderful and the band was cooking. Took my daughter the mandola player and she was happy when Chris pulled out his mandola. Fun night!
No power? No problem!
Nickel Creek was performing at a festival outside Baltimore this past weekend when the power went out. The power outage didn't stop the band, they walked off the stage to the front of the crowd and did this. Outstanding! #AcousticMusicRules
