Monroe police report

Came across a copy of the police report from the vandalism to Bill's mandolins. Not sure if it has been posted here before. I thought it was interesting. Note Lloyd Loar is called "Floyd Lord"..

Classic. Years ago I had a cafe member that doesn't come around anymore give me details that he said were missing from that report. According to him a small safe was found down the road that was taken from the Monroe home. I would think that would have been noticed. Thanks for posting this. It could already be on the Cafe but I don't recall ever seeing it.

I have been planning on putting a Floyd Loar signature in an instrument for years.

No one was ever formally accused in this matter as far as I know. There are/were some informal accusations but for the 'rest of the story' we have to wait for f5loar to chime in. And as far as I know, he ain't talkin'.

Everybody has talked as to who they thought it was. The gentleman I alluded to has said they were all wrong and therein lies the mystery. If we all knew for sure there wouldn't even be a story here. Charlie Derrington would have never had to put it back together and that mandolin over in the Country Music Hall of Fame would still be famous just not quite as famous.

Another cool thing is where it mentions that Bill was at Mason's that day. I work close by and have eaten there many times (it is now Ruby's). I didn't know he frequented the place. I'm going to tell them to put up a poster or something.

I wonder if that is the same Ruby that owned the bar in Va where Bill used to play and stay when he as in the area, I do know she was a good friend of Bill`s....Read what you like into that...

Did anyone else think it was interesting that the police officer made a point to say that the photo of Bill's brother was unharmed?

"Poker holes were stabbed through a picture of Bill Monroe on the living room wall. Right beside that was a picture of Mr. Monroe's brother, which was not harmed."

Now, I'm curious what makes F5Loar so well connected to the Monroe incident? I do know he's quite the expert on Loar mandolins though!

It is. Anyone with any ability to search public records could probably find it. I just did a quick search on Ancestry.com and it didn't fly up but a deeper public records search probably would have found it.

Well, I found this. Does anybody see mention of a small safe in that police report? There goes that theory. I think I still have the PM's that went with all this but there's no sense in posting them. The police report is what it is and what was said was in there isn't. Pretty much the end of that story.

I tend to agree that 'stabbing' the mandolins rather than simply 'smashing' them a la the recent Martin guitar fiasco,takes on a very 'personal' sort of meaning. The mandolins were a 'proxy' for Bill Monroe himself for the perpetrator to vent their anger on,which makes it very,very likely for it to have been a woman,as most of us already assume. The police report makes for grim reading, & praise the good Lord that there was somebody as skilled as Charlie Derrington around to repair the mandolins - an incredible feat of skill,

F5LOAR is connected to everything music via the "Dream Machine" he has in his basement museum. It is very similar to the sensory deprivation tank in the movie Altered States. That's why he has the wax figures. He has to take an artifact into the tank with him each time in order to return with new information

It was personal. The person that did it didn't randomly select a house and destroy two mandolins by chance. That's why that's in the police report. It pretty much lays the groundwork for the type of vandalism it was. Any detective working the case and any prosecutor that came afterwards would know more about the perpetrator of the crime from details like that. I wonder if there were crime scene photos taken? Those would be really interesting.
