The (new) one I encountered last year was a) Radiused board and b) Narrow frets.
Very nice mandolin. It even had a pretty good setup out of the box. Only minor tweaking needed. Very good quality bridge and other hardware.
Worth looking at the excellent Northfield NF-F5S too...and also the Nashville-built Flatiron's... though you would be looking 'used' in both cases to get closer to the price of a KM-1500.
