    Default Music education projects

    Hi All,

Last Wednesday had a great time with our music project with which we started a month ago.

With Het CONSORT as the basis we made a large orchestra with the aim to study Yasuo Kuwahara's wonderful 'The Song of the Japanese Autumn'. Apart from the Consort members, the orchestras participants came from the Guitar and Mandolin Orchestra from Kampen, Sebastiaan de Grebber's mandolin students and mine. We ended up with over 40 very enthousiastic players(!). Ranging from 10 years old up to over 50 years old !

So, last Wednesday we had the first performance of this new orchestra in the music hall of the music school in Zwolle and it went very well. Kuwahara's 'Song of the Japanese Autumn' is of course a work everybody likes to play. And not only that we players like it; we could feel, from the very first frazes, that the audience enjoyed it very much too! So much so that this project will likely become a yearly event!

With Het CONSORT we played some more works among which there was the 'Concerto for Guitar and Mandolin Orchestra' by the Dutch composer Chris Mouter (1925-1982). Both, orchestra and guitar soloist Tom Edskes - with his sensitive and delicate touch - executed this wonderful composition with great musical understanding. Again very special moments and well appreciated among the audiencein during the performance of a rather unknown Concerto in the mandolin liturature! As soon as we'll have it recorded on CD or video I'll inform you.

Our 2nd performance will take place in the large hall of the Spiegel Theatre in Zwolle, starting at 15.00 hours. It is going to be an exciting event with a free entrance and everybody is welcome! Here is a link to the hall: Spiegel Theatrehttp://www.eventbranche.nl/bedrijfsp...ers-419.html#3

    Best Greetings,

How wonderful, how absolutely wonderful! I do, of course, recognize a ~few~ familiar faces in there...

It is a great experience when a well established, tightly knit ensemble such as Het Consort "opens its doors" to a larger group of musicians and music-lovers, a deeply rewarding experience for both "insiders" and "outsiders".

Such things are also the pillars of a living musical culture— as opposed to a museum culture...

    Three cheers to you all!

    Hi all,

Here is a video with the performance of Het Snarenspel Orkest (The String Play Orchestra).
The 'String Play Orchestra' is a Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra based in the Northern part of the Netherlands inwhich young and old are learning ánd playing together.
At the moment the orchestra consists of guitar and mandolin students of Sebastiaan de Grebber and Alex Timmerman, members of the Guitar and Mandolin Orchestra in Kampen ánd - as the basis of the Orchestra - all the musicians of Dutch Mandolin Chamber Orchestra Het CONSORT.
But, in fact, everybody with a guitar, mandolin, mandola, and/or mandoloncello, can join Het Snarenspel Orkest.

Enjoy the performance that was given by Het Snarenspel Orkest two weeks ago, June 2nd. of 'The Song of the Japanese Autumn' by of Yasuo Kuwahara.
Sebastiaan de Grebber is the soloist in the Cadenza, a virtuose solo momentum composed by de Grebber himself towards the end of the composition.

It has been a really wonderful time together and we will go on with it in a project manner!
    Great fun for all!
