Default Jake Jolliff and Alex Hargreaves - are these guys human?!?

This is one of the most phenomenal videos I have seen - up there with any of the Thile-Daves stuff. Do yourselves a favor - browse over to YouTube and search on "Jake Jolliff Alex Hargreaves" and then watch all the videos from the 12/16/2012 performance at the Newberg Music Center. The clip I embedded below is swing, but there's plenty of bluegrass content as well.

    Wow!!!

Alex and Jacob are indeed human musicians of a high caliber. Jacob's pizzicato strumming backup on the fiddle is really good. And they have such a 'tasty' style of improv, right down to the last note. Wow indeed. Follow these guys. Sign me up!

I first ran into these phenoms (pre-beards) years ago at Wintergrass. I remember Jake first meeting Grisman, Marshall & Thile backstage after the original DGQ Reunion.......I'm guessing he was like 12 years old. And Alex was in a band of youngsters playing with Grisman & Jim Nunally, as I recall they were called "Dawg's Pups". Both were then Mandolin Symposium young phenoms along with Sarah Jaroz & a host of other.........but time flies, Jake has now graduated from Berklee. It is great to see the next generation of super pickers come along!

In the far left upper corner we've seen these two since they were kids. They are now my favorite players of their respective instruments. Musicians in the best ways one can be!! Best of luck to them both.

Yes what great videos -- I see Jake is still playing the Gibson Sam Bush F-5 mandolin -- gotta complement him on his good taste there too!

Beautiful players, both of them. Technically proficient, tasteful beyond their years.

These two are unreal, two of the best young improvisers there are. They should really think about releasing an album together.

Joliff plays with a nice little outfit called Joy Kills Sorrow - they're playing in Philly next Friday 1/18 at Johnny Brenda's. I'll be there =)
