    Question Columbia?

    Hello, all -

I've been asked to sell this as part of an estate sale. Whatever it is, it has been refinished rather badly, so it may well be nothing but a wall hanger. Lucky for me, there is a Givens in the same batch, which is getting appraised at Gryphon today.

The label inside says "Columbia Mandolin" but ...

    Thanks, all.

What you have is a Regal Reverse Scroll model, branded Columbia, made for the trade by Regal in Chicago in the 20's to 30's. They are on eBay regularly.

If you're familiar with Gryphon take a look on Frank Ford's www.frets.com. There is one of these in the Museum on that site.

Thank you, Mike! Any ballpark idea on value? Triple figures? :-)

If it's in great shape you might get a few hundred on eBay. They aren't world beaters.

Here's a link to the original patent drawings for this mandolin.
