    Default Paul Buskirk, and others...?

OK, if we're going to have a TIny Moore thread, which is something that should be standard operating procedure here, let's continue on with some other lesser-known early electric players. I'll nominate Paul Buskirk, who used that Jim Harvey double-neck for a bit. Some of his things are also pretty amazing, so there must be others. Pile on, and keep nominating! Here's a video of Paul.

There's always Doug Dalton with Roy Lanham and the Whippoorwills:

Cliff and, later, Henry Maddox of the Maddox Bros:

I had a couple 1950s Nashville based songs with Buskirk as a side man.
...but lost them :^( He was playing his mandola through what sounded like
a Fender amp. The music was extremely flashy and very solid rhythmically.
Way ahead of its time. A little like early Joe Maphis at his shreddin' best.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone remember an electric mandolin player (in the 70's maybe) who wrapped his head up like a mummy and played big power chords on the mando?

You're thinking of Nash the Slash:

Probably more appropriate for the "psychedelic mandolinists" thread.

The other original Bigsby mandolin owners were Eschol Cosby and Al Giddings. Haven't heard recordings of either one, although I think Cosby did put out a CD a few years before he died.

Here's an interesting article from Vintage Guitar that talks about Eschol, and then a link to his Christian Cowboy days. Martin knows all this stuff, but others might be interested. This whole "lost period" of music fascinates me. All groundbreaking stuff which is all now but ignored.

Then, a bit on the Christian Cowboys

I'll dig around and ask a few folks about some recordings.

Don't miss the remarkable Leo Raley lot in the Classifieds. Lots of photos here:
