    Default Mark Forum Read Change?

Seems that the option to mark messages read has changed with the new forum maintenance today. Used to be a one-click link on the forum toolbar that read something like "mark all messages read", or something. Now it is buried under "Forum Actions", then "Mark Forums Read", then an "are you sure" pop-up - total of 3 clicks. Not the end of the world but one particular change that I find annoying. But hey, that's me and who am I to complain about a really great site.

I find the task bar much easier to read and it seems to work faster for me!

I have never used that function, but a nice change I have noticed is that messages read are indicated automatically by the lettering going from bold face to normal when not logged in (I like to read through New Posts this way, as it retains chronological order), and this change is carried over after logging in. This is nice; helps me keep my place.

On the other hand, I am unable to post or start a thread on my PowerBook G4 with Safari - I get a reply pane for a second then it vanishes, and typing is not accepted. Very strange. Also, the aforementioned boldface/normal change has gone away, as now all messages are listed in normal face. I have a feeling this is because it's being worked on. Things are just fine on my PC desktop with Explorer.

According to the support forum for our software, that javascript prompt is being removed in the next minor upgrade to the forum which I anticipate we will complete in the next 7 days at some point. It'll still be stored under that menu though. Personally I prefer those sub-menus to having tons of links in the navigation. Each to their own, but apparently they took some flak from the collective community and decided to remove it.

It's funny...I would not at all be bothered by needing 2 clicks to 'mark all post read'. However, I must admit, that third click aggravates me.

Another change? Main Forum screen now has no link to view New Posts. Discovered that if you click Advanced Search, that window has the New Posts link and the Mark Forums Read link. When you click the New Posts link you see all of the new posts and you still have the Mark Forums Read link.

Hold tight. We've been at it for about four hours this a.m. with an upgrade and new server move. Things are heading back but may take awhile. A bit of patience goes a long way. Thank you.

I believe this is rectified now. Please let me know if not.

What happens if you click this link? Are you getting an error message or is it redirecting you somewhere?

Sounds like a reboot might be necessary, that action that typically fixes most computer problems, but that's just a guess and a suggestion.

Scott; I'm in the process of creating a new photo album and I just discovered that the File Upload Manager is not allowing me to upload any new jpeg files in my 'library' of images. I get a message that they are not valid files (even with files I had previously successfully moved over).

Moving existing pics from my library into the album is no problem, but I can't seem to upload anything new.

Of course there is no rush on this, I'll try again later today or tomorrow. I just wanted to make sure you knew about this.

Should be working now. Minor change needed on our end.

I like how the "are you sure you want to mark all forum discussions read?" confirmation box is now empty with no text...
Is this symbolic and by design or just a quirk of the upgrade?

Since the change, I can't seem to find the button for "new social group messages". Have I forgotten where it is or has it moved / disappeared?

I'm not familiar with this link since I don't use the Social Groups in that fashion. Doubt it was a button but maybe you're just using that as reference. Where was it before?

I'm sure it was somewhere in the line " New Posts Private Messages Forum Guidelines Calendar Community Forum Actions Quick Links", just above the forum and below the line starting "classifieds forums ..."
I'm sure there was a button "new group messages" or something similar; there was definitely some way that I could get to a screen similar to that when "new posts" is clicked, but just consisting of posts in groups. I don't know any other way to access the groups apart from going in them individually to check if there's been anything new.

I still have access to the previous version of the forum we were all looking at last week--we're on a new server now. I couldn't find that link or button and it didn't sound familiar to me so I'm not sure what's up. I also looked at the support forum for the software package they used and don't see it there either. It's right here if you want to look and see if you can find it, I couldn't.

I'm not sure how I was viewing the new group posts then; thanks anyway for looking into it, and if I can't work out how to view things that way no worries.

As of this afternoon a third click is no longer required to mark all messages 'read'.
The empty white box is dead...Long Live the two click 'mark all read'!

Man, I went to mark the forums read, just then I decided I might not have read all of them, I thought: "Well it will ask me if I'm sure." But, no! It just marked them all read. Now I'll never know what I might have missed. Sad day.

If you go to the page where all the forums are listed, click on Quick Links then select Today's Posts you'll at least be able to see what you might have missed today.

Thanks, Mike. All seriousness aside, that was my feeble attempt at humour.
