i can not recommend exactly which amp for you to use . but its worth while getting quality , if you can afford it . the other question is - what do you plan to use this amp for ? bedroom ,studio, compete with full drum kit , bars , how will you be carrying/transporting it? i love tubes on most wood instruments and vocals .
I have a Fender Princeton Reverb with a 10" Eminence Red Fang Speaker
and it sounds FANTASTIC
I played a Godin with a Fishman amp (I think it was the Loudbox) at the Music Emporium in Lexington, MA, and thought it sounded great.

I've recently picked up a Crate Taxi and really like how it sounds. It's really a small, 2 channel, [rechargeable] battery powered full-range PA running at 15 watts RMS. If you need more power they also make a 50 watt Limo model.
I have been using a Godin A8 for about ten years as my main gigging mando and it has worked nicely with many different amps. Yamaha, AER, Fishman, Bose, etc. Depending on the situation, sometime I like the sound of an old tube amp instead of the clean, modern, distortion free world of acoustic amplifiers. Here is a video of a recent performance where I played through 2 old Harmony tube amps.
Don, that was Exceptional! Wonderful playing by all, and that Godin sounds excellent, with a nice rawness to it!

You and your A8 and the band sound great.
I am awaiting delivery on my Godin A8 so you know I really enjoyed your video.
I too have been wondering what would be a good amp for this mandolin!
Thank you so much.

I play my Godin A8 through a AER Compact 60, often times with a Shure wireless pickup, and it really gives it a clean, natural sound.
