    Default Almuse Explorer

    Hi all

I wrote and recorded this little piece for my Almuse Explorer Mandolin. I'll get around to videoing it one day as I know mp3s are boring!

It was sounding guitar like, so I threw in some high notes to prove it wasn't

    Thanks for your kind comments!

Regarding Tony's question, no physical amp was used. I recorded the track in my home studio (grand expression for a computer with knobs on), and the Explorer was played through Guitar Rig http://www.native-instruments.com/#/...r-rig-kontrol/

The Reverb effect was Perfect Space, and the whole track was recorded in Sonar. Drums were pulled together by editing commercially available loops, and I played bass, acoustic guitar and of course autoharp in the middle there!

    Cheers, Bill

Makes me regret selling my 'lectric mando a few years back. I need to get around to building the one that I have in my mind.

The encouragement you have given me (and I don't need much!) has led to me putting the track up on iTunes. If you do a search for Bill Saunders in iTunes, there it sits, warts an' all, alongside my 2008 album, 12 Irish Pub Anthems. Regrettably, I recorded that album just before I started playing the mandolin.

    Thanks!

    Did I really make that?.......
If you lived closer, you`d be my official photographer........light absolutely right to show off the figure!
I was going to ask what settings you used on guitar rig but then realised that I hadn`t actually got guitar rig.....still........any pointers such as amp / speaker combinations and stomp boxes that you`d like to share?

Not sure how well this will come out, but here is a screen dump of the settings. The blue slope thing on the left in the convolution reverb Perfect Space, with the Guitar Rig virtual "stack" comprising amp and effects on the right!

Thanks very much, it's great to still be getting nice words said about this tune. I put it up on iTunes a few months ago (search Bill Saunders) and it has been selling reasonably well. This was a case of getting a new instrument and trying to write a piece to fit the instrument. And to make sure it couldn't be played on an electric guitar.

    Thanks again, Bill
