I had one of the pickups...

I personally did not care for it at all.The sound is Ok in low level applications, but when it comes to plying bluegrass or country it really fell short. Some people really swear by them.

I have always prefered a good mike versus pickups not only on mando but guitar as well.I just think you loose alot when plugged in. Thats my .02 worth

I had one, and had great luck with it. I know others who have had mixed results.
I will say this (being married to a Real Estate Broker), its value to you boils down to three things:
    Location. Location. Location.
The Internal Feather is only as good as where it is put. I strongly recommend having it installed professionaly.

I have one but havent used it in years, since we switched to a single mic setup. When I did use it, the tone was pretty nice for a pickup. I have the original one, not the feather one. I've seen Nickel Creek use them in conjunction with a mic for added sound.
