4-string EM-150

GM - 00082 1956 Gibson EM- 150 4 String Electric Mandolin # # EXC++ # This is a rare piece in exceptionally fine condition. 4 pole p-90 type pickup mounted in the sunburst top and nice figure to the birdseye maple back. Original tuning pegs and gold "Gibson" logo on the headstock. Original hard shell case.

Oh, balderdash. No one knows more about the vintage instrument market than Lowell does, and his prices are competitive with (Charles Johnson) or better than (Mandolin Bros., Bernunzio, Wexer) the other folks who sell this sort of stuff. As far as paying for his house goes ... I don't know if that's true, but if it is, so what? That's the definition of doing something "for a living." What, you think instrument dealers ought to be homeless?

And bjc, where the hell did you get that 12K figure? Lowell is asking for $1695 for this EM150 -- not unreasonable considering that it's a custom instrument. (I've never seen another one that came from the factory with only 4 strings.)

My past ownership of an EM 150, was for $1000 less, and twice as many strings.

That's the price for the 1937 F7, the first listing on that page, not the emando...

I swear it was only $1150 when I first posted the link. I cut out the price from the quote I made so it wouldn't appear like I was promoting it.

He has another EM150 (8-string) listed for $1150.

I lost track of this thread...I offer my apologies to mrmando and anyone else who took my post in a manner in which I did not intend. Yeah, I got the price wrong...was probably drinking the wrong brand off coffee that day...But I did not say that people can not make a living selling, nor did I say that the price was a rip-off...it was a simple remark for those of us who have rarely paid over a grand for an axe of any kind (this is based on my 12K error). I am sure that Lowell is a fine man and honest dealer...
