Default What's in your set list?

I'm curious what songs people are playing, especially for dances.

Our own band uses three set lists for different venues: contra dance, unamplified Farmer's market, and a stage show.

    Our dance list often includes:

Jamie Allen (medium tempo to warm up the band)
    La Bastringue
    Huntsman's Chorus/ Off she Goes
    Gallopede
    Midnight on the Water (Waltz)
    Going to Boston
    Oh Susannah
Bonaparte Crossing the Rhine/St Anne's Reel
    Waltz of the Little Girls
    Reel Saint Antoine
Calliope House or Dusty Bob or Tobin's Favorite (Jig)
    Wild Rover (sung Waltz)

Too many to list but some obscure ones that people really like are; Dixie Darling and No distinction by the Carter Family and Mouth of the Tobique and Campbell's Farewell which are two great fiddle tunes.

Here is the table of contents of a collection of tunes compiled locally for contra dances.

Great list Jeff. I know several people here in the Pacific NW who will be pleased to explore an east coast set list. I notice several undiscovered tunes and a few I once played, but have forgotten about. Those I've never heard of, give me the incentive to go on the itunes store and start listening.

Jim, I see by google maps that you are a couple of hours from Ballard. They have some fun jams and open mikes, the times I have been there. I have been to the OT jam on Tuesdays there on several occations when I travel out that way.

I am sure there are other jams, thats just one that I am familiar with.

I'd be very interested to see what old-time tunes in your contra dance set lists are considered "smooth" reels by dance callers. Do you categorize your setlists to have sections for "smooth" and "bouncy," etc. "Bouncy" doesn't seem to be a problem but I could use some new tunes that are "smooth" old-time reels.
