I have aquired an Elias Howe "academy" roundbacked mandolin. The label inside states "Elias Howe,Academy,Boston, Mass". I have a love of all stringed instruments. This is approx. 112 years old, and all original. I strung Her today ( probably the first time in MANY decades she was...), and slowly tuned to pitch. The mandolin sounds great, and the action is very good as well. I was concerned that upon stringing and tuning to pitch that the neck would bow or something making the action high-didn't happen! I am amazed at the Craftmanship and quality of materials that make this mandolin what it is. It is 100% loriginal, save for one screw that I put on one tuning gear. My questions are: how rare is this bird, and what is the approx. resale value? I can't figure out how to attach a photo, so if anyone can help, please email me, and I will send pics.I love her, but gotta let her go due to financial downtimes. Any info or feedback would be greatly appreciated!elkabbong57@comcast.net
