Hey Barbara, is the Willow Garden the same as Down in The Willow Garden? I've heard a lot of bluegrassers do it like Red Allen and Frank Wakefield but I'm not sure if it's a strictly bluegrass tune and can also be considered old timey, maybe?

Also known as Rose Conlee or Rose Conley. The roots of the ballad are very old--- the gist of it is a young man who kills his lover and throws her body in the water-- related to songs called the Oxford Incident, or the Wexford Girl, Knoxville Girl, etc. It's the basis for Banks of the Ohio, etc., etc. He apparently has got her pregnant and doesn't want the responsibility, thinks he can get away with it because of his money or his position.
