Definitely DUD DUD. The guitarists in Ireland strum that way too, and ever since my stay in Ireland, mandolinists and guitarists who pick or strum otherwise sound un-Irish to my ears. Gives the 3rd note of the triplet a real "snap", keeps the first note of the triplets equal (so it feels more "old world", more like "1 1 1 1" instead of "1 2 1 2", and anyways, how ya gonna play a slip jig if ya don't DUD DUD DUD?
