Where do you announce the winner? I've been seeing the poles - but not the winner announcement.

You go to the Song a Week social group and Barb lists the winners there, usually with ABC's and links to versions of the tune so folk have a starting point if they're not familiar with it.

Is there a way to set yourself up in the social group so that you get a daily e mail when things are posted there?

Rob, thanks for asking the question. I never even thought to ask where it was listed-just kept checking the poll itself. And thanks for the answer, Jill.

Hi Ya'll! Sorry for the confusion. I thought that by saying in my post, that these polls were for the Song A Week Social Group, and the link to join the Group, that you would come over to the group, and see what it's all about.
Our group is VERY active. I don't believe a day goes by that there aren't several posts. When you join the group, there is an icon at the top right that says 'group tools'. When you click it, you can choose 'subscribe to this group' from the drop down menu. You then have 3 choices to choose from, as to how, and how often, you are notified of activity. But, the most frequent, is daily, and I guarantee you'll get a notice every day!
So, I invite everyone to come on over to the Song A Week Social Group, and join in the fun!

I am pretty darn sure that I went through that process and subscribed to the Social Group asking for daily e mails but I don't believe I have ever actually received one. Not sure why.

Same with me, though I'm not absolutely sure I requested daily e-mails. I'll see if I can change to that if I didn't. Thanks.
It seems that the whole 'being notified by email' function has some flaws. I'd suggest bookmarking the social group, and just checking it directly. There is never a day that goes by, without a new post, so even if you were successful in subscribing, you'd just end up getting an email every day, saying something new had posted.
On the regular message boards, when you subscribe to a message thread, you get an e-mail letting you know someone has posted, and it usually includes the post in the e-mail, like this one that I recently got:
Dear Barbara Shultz,
daltai has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled - Poll for Song a Week Social Group Week #45 - in the Song and Tune Projects forum of Mandolin Cafe Forum.
This thread is located at:

There may also be other replies, but you will not receive any more notifications until you visit the forum again.

As far as I can tell, if you are subscribed to a thread on the regular forum, you get an e-mail notice as soon as someone posts. In the social group, you'll get one a day.

I have "subscribed" to the Song a Week club. When I subscribed I was given the option of getting notified in a few different ways. I chose to be notified by e mail. Still, I have never received a single e mail. I do wish I could get this to work. I have no troubles with the general forum e mail notifications. Its just the social club notifications. If any one has an suggestions it sure would be nice if I could figure out how to get it to work.

Rob, this ise a built in function of the software, something that happens automatically. Scott has just upgraded this to new software, and I believe he's pretty much got his hands full with ironing out the really important bugs. For testing purposes, I just went to the 'group tools' and subscribed myself to the group, asking for daily e-mail updates, and made sure I clicked 'add subscription' once I made my choice. I also subscribed to another group I just joined. You can verify that you are subscribed by going to group tools, and if 'subscribe to this group' is NOT there, and 'unsubscribe from this group' IS there, then you are subscribed.
I will report back tomorrow, as to whether I got an e-mail notice at 12:02 am.
But again, even if you ARE subscribed, and it gets to working correctly, you will just get ONE e-mail, sent out about midnight, telling you that there was some activity in the group. You will still have to GO to the group, to see just what that activity was. It is NOT set up like the e-mail notices you get from the threads you are subscribed to on the regular message forum. Those notices generated from the regular forum seem to come in real time, and have the message posted included in the e-mail.
There isn't anything that I, as the moderator, or Scott, as the owner, can do about this. It's built into the code of the software.
Again, this seems to be a moot point, as the notices are NOT like those generated from the regular forum, even if you get it to work, you will just find one e-mail every morning, telling you there was some activity in the previous day. If you want to know what was going on in the social group, you will still have to go to the group, and check it out.
