    I've seen a fair amount of these here in Los Angeles. Back in the day you could order all the parts (except the body) and make one yourself. They are basically a plank of solid maple cutting board with a neck and electronics attached. They're heavy for their size, though I've never played a real Fender mando so I can't compare.. Some people like the adjustable pickups. YMMV.

    Occasionally they pop up on eBay for much less.

    12 bucks for a plush lined hard case is pretty good going... nice lookin mando.
    Hereby & forthwith, any instrument with an odd number of strings shall be considered broken. With regard to mix levels, usually the best approach is treating the mandolin the same as a cowbell.
