Godin a8

Hey all

Just bought a Godin a8 and am looking for set up advice. I am new to the electric world and want to know if there are any particular brands I should look for.

Right now I have a set of elixer mediums on the instrument because that is my acoustic brand.

Any advice would be helpful.

It's a piezo pickup, so whatever acoustic strings you like should work. I wouldn't use a real heavy set on it ... the Elixir mediums should be just fine.

I had one for a while. fixed bridge, bolt on neck. so to lower the action , I raised the neck,
with 4 flatwashers, between the body and neck, one around each wood screw.

quick, easy reverts as easily, no permanent change.

D'Addario half flat bronze set may be another set to try . wound A has a rather thin core wire ,
but amplified it doesn't have to be picked as hard as acoustic only so may not break as soon.

I didn't soften up my picking and so it was short lived , in comparison with solid steel A strings..
