Tommorrow is gonna be a good day at Fiddler's Green. This one is set to arrive sometime before 4 pm. Man, I have a great job! Ive owned Robb's #5 for over a month now, and if this one is even in the same ballpark tone-wise......then look out! I'll give a full report after my detailed analysis.

Folks, its just as stunning in person! I played this mandolin for 3 hours today, and can say with much confidence that it plays and sounds just as great as it looks. This is a very powerful mandolin, rich with tonal character. The workmanship is spectacular, and the choice of materials flow together in a most inspiring way.
Its hard to tell from the photos, but the binding is tortoise instead of black. It looks amazing around the ebony headstock and is the perfect go between for the mango and spruce. Everything on this mandolin is married together in very classy way. The scroll is just killer.
As for the sound....its got it. Each note is declared with force, no matter how hard or soft its being played. It has a pronounced "woof" to the double stops without being overly bassy. The midrange is very strong and lays itself out for your easy manipulation. The treble side is very sweet and balanced, but does require a little work if you want a strong high end "bite". Playing chords on this mandolin sounds like two instuments going at once. Its a beautiful thing!
If your anywhere around Austin, it would be well worth your time to come check this out!
I'll see if I cant get a clip going in the next few days.
