Thanks for your response to the copyright issue. You are correct, Fender made a Mandocaster, which has a definite different look altogether. Also, as to the Tele style look (which there is quite a variance) (I am building Mandolins not Guitars).

So much lookalike stuff gets offloaded at the west coast P.O.E.'s that are guitars ,
I think the copyright situation is Moot.
all the guitar hardware is on offer from multiple sources, and its largely interchangeable.
guess it wasn't as important as the copyright renewal on "Happy Birthday'
