    Okay, so it's actually a guitar, but check out this F-shaped electric Stuart has been playing on tour with Plant/Krauss.

    So what is it, and who makes it? A little like the Morgan Monroe bass.
    Chief. Way up North. Gibson 1917 A model with pickup. JL Smith 5 string electric. 1929 National Triolian resonator mandolin with pickup. National RM 1 with pickup. Ovation Applause. Fender FM- 60 E 5 string electric (with juiced pickups). 1950's Gibson EM-200 electric mandolin. 1954 Gibson EM-150 electric mandolin. Custom made "Jett Pink" 5 string electric- Bo Diddley slab style. Jay Roberts Tiny Moore model 5 string electric.

    My pic is a screen cap from the Plant/Krauss appearance on Jools Holland's TV show last week on the BBC and there was never a clear shot of the headstock to see any maker. This one was about as close as it got:

    The F shape is the best. I think every intrument should come in an F shape if possible. the Les Paul has the same aesthetic feel to me, but not quite as good as the F.

    Only thing that I can tell is that it has Carvin pickups.
