Any opinions on these two? #I currently have a MK mando with built in electronics. #Not real happy with it's pluged in tone with my band, sound very tinny, even after working the eq on my band's board. #SOOO, I am thinking more of the "small electric guitar" mandolin.

They're very different instruments. The Kentucky 300e is a 4-string electric with magnetic pickups, like a "small electric guitar." The Godin A-8 sounds much more "acoustic" than most EMs, with 8 strings (4 courses) and a piezo-based under-saddle pickup. I like the Godin a lot for those occasions when I need an "acoustic" mandolin sound without feedback.

Ed is right - the Kentucky sounds more like a blues/jazz guitar and the Godin sounds like a mandolin. Both are real good values for what they do. Good Luck!

Anyone know of any sound bits out there for these two electric mandos?
