    Hello All,
Recently I have been getting into building and repair of mandolins and guitars, both acoustic and electric. I have come across eletric mandolin kits and was wondering if anyone has tried on of these, or if they even still exsit. I have found a site that carries them a while back, but never got a confirmation if they still do. I hae emailed them but no luck. I assume its made by saga, and if so could I guess I could get it through any saga dealer? Anyway thanks for you time and you can check out the kit I mean at this link... http://www.onlineguitar.com/index.php?id=479 just scroll down and you will see it. Thanks

Online guitar has been out of stock on these for quite some time, according to a customer service rep. I suspect they are no longer made.

You can get an updated version of that from international violin, but I have known several people that have been less than pleased with them. There really isn't much to building an electric from scratch. I would suggest getting the Hiscock book on building an electric guitar. Everything you need to know is in there from initial design and layout to finishing.

This is the IV electric kit. It is the only one I know of. I wasn't terribly thrilled with the kit but I did manage to build a fairly nice mandolin from it.

Cool: it looks like one of the updates includes an electric guitar-style bridge.

Thanks Everyone, I kinda thought that online guitar was out. I will look into the IV kit as well as building from scratch which was my future plans. I wanted to use this to get my feet wet with an electric mando and its construction. Thanks everyone and ill make sure to post some photos of with any updates.
