Recommendations for a nice-looking floor stand for my 5-string Mandoblaster?

I just got a Hercules stand from Musician's Friend. Mine is a triple, as I play fiddle, mandolin, and electric mandolin. But they also make single and double ones. It works great,is heavy duty, and folds down for easy transport. It also won't tip, and an instrument can't fall out. Mine adjusts in height to take guitars, or in my case, smaller instruments. They're not exactly cheap, but I highly recommend them.

I use the Gator GW-3x-Stand, a tweed 3 space stand for my emando and two guitars. Works great, easy to move, no rubber or metal to mar finishes.

How tall are those suitcase stands? do they fit short E mandos well or only sort of?

The stand comes with 4 "blocks" that are square on the sides and long enough to fit snugly in the bottom (finished in the same red plush as the inside of the case). I use two to keep the sides snug to the case and two as a platform to put my emando on. Works very well.

    really wanted inches, [or centimeters]

so the mandolin doesn't reach the bottom of the base pocket?

I use the Hamilton KB-38 "Hanger" stand, with a bit of padding to keep the instrument away from the stand.

Lower (floor) stands put the instrument too low for my taste. If you don't mind that, I'm a big fan of the Ingles violin stand:
