I don't think Jeff Bird gets enough props around here for his electric playing. The guy has been playing with Cowboy Junkies for years and he rocks his '58 EM-200 (strung as a 4) hard. He's got a new(er?) website with a nice closeup pic of his EM200. Looks like he's got a 4-string nut, the spacing looks pretty uniform. The bridge still looks original and maybe he's using the lower of each slot?

I had the same mandolin, strung in the same way. This is a beautiful electric mandolin-one of the best!

Jeff Bird is currently working on a project called Sing in My Meadow with the Cowboy Junkies that will prominently feature Jeff and his e-mando. Here is an excerpt from a note on the Cowboy Junkies' Facebook page:

"...on Sing In My Meadow, Jeff’s madness is put on display in all its raging glory….lock up your children, this is scary stuff... Here is the board mix for I Move On, with no vocals, so you can appreciate all of the subtle nuances of Jeff’s insanity…wail on, dude…"

I Move On board mix...Wail on indeed!
