I read an interesting article about Jimmy Ryan on the No Depression website...He's the former leader of the band the Blood Oranges and plays a 5 string electric mando (don't know the builder)...I'm just curious if anyone is a fan and could direct me towards buying some of his recorded material...Thanks

I have CD from him. I believe it is called diamond angel, or something like that. For me the CD is ok, there are some really good tracks on there, and there are some average and weak tracks on it.

Alltogether, the CD certainly is worth buying it

    Hey,
That CD is great and Jimmy really knows his stuff!! It's definitely worth checking out. There was a thread about Jimmy and his CD on the "Rock, Folk Rock,..." section not too far back. Check out this link to pick up his CD

I just read the No Depression article, and I am shocked to hear that the guy is 46. Judging from the photos on the CD he looks in his twenties.

Jimmy's 5-string left-handed e-mando is by Brad Nickerson, a Massachusetts-based custom guitar builder (Brooks Williams plays one of Brad's guitars).

And the futher you dig into Jimmy's stuff, you'll bump into the Beacon Hillbillies, John McGann (a frequent poster) and Cheri Knight; all greta choices for some CD purchases!
