Can anyone tell me about recent sale prices for used Rickenbacker 5002V58 electric mandolins?

One was listed on eBay last month at $1,500 and got no bids. And there was one in the Classifieds a while back at $1K that didn't seem to be moving.

Major dealers don't have any listed (they're either discontinued or custom-only at this point). Only one I see out there is in classified listings in Belfast for 2,000 pounds. Think that's a wee bit high.

So, what are they actually selling for?

I'm not sure, but there was a listing in SFBay craigslist a few months ago at about $1100USD, and I emailed the guy who posted the Rick on eBay last month, who said that he sold it offline, but I didn't think to ask him what it went for.

(Someday I will get one, so I can jingle-jangle-twangle just like Cody Braun.

I sold one about 4 years ago for 1250.00...

I think that Rickenbacker recently raised their prices across the board, so keep that in mind I guess....

Yes, just down the road from me, in fact.

I was asking about prices because I had been offered one in trade, and I had a difference of opinion with the person making the offer as to the value of the instrument. I have tried the Ricks and don't really care for them, especially with that darn fret marker where it doesn't belong.

When guitar makers decide to build mandolins, it seems they sometimes include guitar-biased assumptions in their mandolin design. I've seen this on a couple of otherwise nice production flat-tops from Garrison and Tacoma: both manufacturs used a zero degree neck angle on their flat-tops, which works fine with a floating bridge, but the near absence of downward string tension on a flaoting bridge permit the bridge to continue to float perpendicularly to the strings when tuned up and played.
