Hey Lee, regarding the Valve Jr head, with the upgrade it actually stays cleaner up to about the 12:00 position, a nice smooth transition from clean to crunch, great tone. The stock ones are a bit muddier... I bought mine already upgraded from ebay; tubes are upgraded and 5 internal components.... Kits are available for the mechanically inclined. I highly recommend the upgrade. Searh ebay under "bitmo" or "epiphone valve jr." and look for the "BitMo Spanky" upgrade. Coincidentally, I too have a Schwab (w/ mahog body) and a Mann EM8 (8 strings). Love 'em both!!!

I like to use a Marshall AS100D for my Acoustic, with a Baggs DI.
That gives a good clean sound, that's full not thin.
For the Humbucker I'll just run it thru a line 6 pro.
That gives you about any sound your looking for.
Go Marshall thanks for a good amp.

    Good luck.

I just got a Pod X3 Live. It is the bee's knees.

I can have a few banks dedicated to various emando tones, and plug my schertler dyn-m equipped Givens directly into the pod, using one of the vintage tupe mic pre models. If I need monitoring beyond the PA monitors, I can use my Fender Princeton non reverb (a very clean, yet warm, amp)

With a street price of $500, it's kind of pricy - but youo get a lot of funtionality.
