I still need to put a finish on it and finish the instruction booklet but I just had to post this because I was so excited how my new OM kit has turned out. #The sound is great and the kit is a piece of cake to put together. #It will be available in about a month and cost less than $300.

Very cool, Don, very cool. My MKBS (Mandolin Kit Building Syndrome) is acting up! I want to do them both, I just have to find the time, the money and the support of the Office of Homeland Management (my wife). I have done one instrument kit now, a McSpadden dulcimer, and it turned out pretty well. Tell me, which of your kits would be the easiest to do first, the mando or the octave?

Thanks for the interest. #The scale length is 22.875. #The widest part of the body is 13.5". #I just need to get the instruction booklet and patterns done. #I need another month or so before John Q Public has at them....
Its a tough call to say which one is easier. #I have made a revision so you don't even need to make a work board anymore. (a little more machining for me but less work for the builder)
