I'm thinking about ordering one these from Elderly for my Mandobird, but the funky body shape has me wanting to confirm. Anyone squeezed a bird into a Boulder Alpine gig bag? I'm thinking it might work if you lay it in there upside down so the treble side "horn" goes in the scroll space.

I can't report on that exact bag, but I keep my Mandobird in a TKL gig bag that is made for an "A" mandolin. I think it would be tough to get an "F" mandolin in there, but the 'bird fits fine. So my guess is you would be more than OK with an F bag and just eyeballing it, I think your idea of flipping the mando over might work. One thing you might do is call Elderly. They might know for sure if your idea would work, they might be willing to grab a Mandobird and do a test-fit for you in the shop, or they may have another solution that is not apparent from thier catalog.

Good point. I guess I could just call them. Funny how sometimes we don't think of the most logical when we're in cyberspace, huh? Thank you for the reply.

I just tried this. If you put the bird in the Alpine bag upside down you can get it to zip closed. It is a bit snug on one of the corners though.
