    Hello all,

It's been a while since I've been on mandolincafé ... busy summer!

I've been asked to be a member of the jury for the R. Calace competition in Pignola. As mentioned above by Mike, this year the competition was for duets (mandolin+guitar).
It's been an interesting experience. I'm sure you understand I prefer not to discuss any details of the conversations between the jury members, but I can say that we decided not to attribute the 1st prize, so we started from the 2nd prize.

I made a video recording of the competition and (with permission of the players) I've uploaded some videos to Google video.
Here are the links to the performances of the 2nd prize winners, Alon Sariel (mandolin) & Francesca Gliglione (gutiar):

... and the 3rd prize winners, Tiziano Palladino (mandolin) and Isidoro Nugnes (guitar):

(Alon Sariel has also been the 3rd prize winner of the recent competition for mandolin solo in Patraz, and Tiziano Palladino was the winner of the R. Calace competition for mandolin solo 2006.)

    Enjoy the music!
