Does the Oval and D-holes on gypsy mandolins make any improvement to tone and resonance?

Improvement is strictly up to the player to decide

    It does make a difference

Remember these mandolins are designed from the ground up NOT to sound like an F bluegrass instrument at all

    So dont compare them

They are designed with different tones and performance and a completely different music style in mind

Are you talking about Gypsy mandolins or Paris Swing mandolins or something else?

I don't think the Gypsy's have oval or D holes, so it must be something else.

I'd like to try those PS mandos but according to their web site there aren't any stores that actually have them.

NFI for me.. but you can get a Paris Swing from Stephen Perry's GypsyJazzguitars.com a cousin of Gianna's Violins. Also from Instrumentalley.com Just Google it! for many results.
