RISA SEMI HOLLOW BODY ELECTRIC MANDOLA- on ELderly, anybody heard one? It seems kinda cheap but it fills alot of my criteria- Lower than a mandolin (I'm like a contra bass voice, makes it hard to sing along with my playing), It has playability waaaaa---aay past the 12th fret, hey I'm spoiled by all those years of playing guitar, It's semi hollow body, okay that's not in my criteria but I'm working with extremely limited fund, so I could hear it somewhat plugged in and still be able to jam with those heathen guitar players (That's the other criteria-acoustic and electric would be ideal but sometimes ya gotta be, um...flexible)

I also am interested in getting one of these as my first electric instrument, as well as my first mandola. I have yet to try one or hear one live. There is a review of one on the emando site and info on the builder. The builder's web site has a couple sound clips to sample.

I have the black solid body single pickup version of the Risa - I love it and Mandola tuning works great with the 17" scale length.

I'm also tempted by Rigk's latest announcement:
New Risa 13.8" (350mm) scale emando

350mm is a couple of mil short of perfect, but hey
