The Second Annual Midwest Mandolin Festival, June 3 - 4, 2006, Summit Lake State Park, near New Castle, Indiana (about half way between Indianapolis and Dayton, Ohio, off I-70) is coming soon! Enjoyed a day outdoors with acoustic mandolin music, including old time, traditional, classical, jazz, blues, contemporary, ragtime, orchestrated, and bluegrass music by regional performing artists. There will also be a mandolin workshop, and some open stage time. Enjoy seating in the surrounding grassy area with a picnic lunch. Come rain or shine - we have seating for approximately 100 in the performance shelter. Free with paid admission to the park.

Il Troubadore is worth the trip alone for their groovy, tongue-in-cheek, disco mandoqurkiness and virtuosic acoustic heavy metal cello... And, of course, the Dayton Mandolin Orchestra are good friends of us here in Ohio. If you've never heard a mandolin orchestra, don't you owe yourself? Alas, this year finds me out on Lake Erie for day-job duties. I'll hope to make it back out in future years.
