    Allright folks,
I am sure I am not the only one scouring through the hoardes of e-bay sellers with mandolin auctions. Did any of you catch the Infinity Mandolin.....I have been looking at mandolins now for 10 years and never ran across one of these. He says he bought it in Missouri...it looks nice, good scroll, nice woods, it doesn't look like there is any glue marks or binding problems. Any one know anything about the mandos or the builder?

    Thanks,
    Seth Rippey

There is a cafe member with the user name of Keith (what do you recon his real name is?) who purchased one last year. Maybe he will post a review. He paid $89 for it brand new. The first one had a busted neck. The supplier was supposed to send a replacement, but I don't know what happened with that.
Here is the thread about the busted neck.

The replacement never arrived but I got a full refund incl postage and got to keep the broken mando I fixed the broken neck with help from folk on the bulders thread. Well, it is all solid wood and looks the part but....even with a bridge upgrade (the one that came with it was made of rosewood I think, very soft) and decent strings the sound is thin no sustain to speak about and very quiet, you get what you pay for as they say

I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has one of these (am I the only one willing to admit to ownership ) Has anyone managed to make them sound reasonable ? and if so how
    Thanks

I have an Infinity Mandolin, a friend gave it to me about two years ago. I was wondering where it falls on the spectrum of quality. I just got it restrung (no, I didn't do it myself) and plan on learning to play. I play a little bass and a little guitar; I figure I'd add a little mandolin to the mix...

Pictures are always good. You're replying to a 12 year old thread.

Based simply on the photo, it looks almost identical to a foreign-made $59 Rogue mandolin.

In short - with a good set-up and a new pair of strings (you are halfway there) you should have an instrument that will decently serve the purposes of a mandolin beginner.

Play, learn, enjoy and keep us posted!

That mandolin was imported from Asia under dozens of brand names (and still is pretty much). It's a beginner's/student grade instrument. It should be fine to learn on.
