Ok. So Im building an electric 8 string solid-body. Im looking for a pickup that can give me a good clean sound, not an overdrive type sound. Price is sort of an issue, as Im looking to spend no more than $75. Any suggestions?

EMG select, stack humbuckers, stratocaster format, are under $30, seem good..
used on on my FM61 electric, as a retrofit,
[double concentric controls also from stewmac are good]
have a fender lace sensor, gold winding type, on another ...inset into the front rather than in a pickguard assembly,

That pickup doesnt come with the wiring system right? What kind of wiring system should I use? Im asking these questions because I dont want to spend money for something that won't work all that well on my Mando.

one pickup with 2 wires coming from it ,
    an 0.02 microfarad disc capacitor.
the dual potentiometer [as opposed to 2 pots]
has the one knob on top of or actually surrounding the other.
and a TR jack, is the parts list,
you can simplify further and eliminate the tone control entirely,
just a volume pot, the pickup and the jack.
the capacitor is there to set the frequency that the tone pot
    rolls off.
    i think.

Stew Mac has schematics, answers questions., all the parts.

I've had good results with a Carvin twinblade humbucker, around $36. I didn't install it myself, but they have the wiring diagram availble on the Carvin website. It's a very good pickup for the money and works well on my 5-string.
