    That's a humbucker on it now, just a skinny blade design that looks like a single coil at first glance.

    How did you decide where to place the pickup?
    (Also, have you tried placing it next to the fingerboard?
    I like the sound better there, seems more resonant...
    but that's just a personal preference)

    The pickup position was found by making a prototype that I could adjust the position of the pickup from the neck to the bridge. This seemed to be the best position for the sound, playability and visual appearance of the pickup (guitar pickups can look pretty big next to a mandolin fretboard and I didn't want it to be right under the best places to pick. I also hoped that fitting it into a dark pickguard would further reduce the appearance of the size). The DiMarzio pickups are pretty hot and had a fairly wide range of positions where they worked well.

    We should have information to our dealers on the instrument within a couple of weeks.
