So the kids have asked what I would like for Xmas (besides world Peace, end of Poverty and Famine ETC).
I was thinking a Mandobird could be kinda neat. Which one sounds more mondoish? It seems that the 8 string would be the way to go. Any suggestions?

Or get a MiniStrat and try to simulate a mando. Or at least be in the same pitch.

Mine is a 4-string. I have an acoustic 8-string, so I went for a different sound. Guess it would depend on what you were looking for. I've never played an 8-string solid-body, so can't comment on how they sound, play, etc. But I'm real happy with my mandobird!

I have the same wish and I think I am going with the 4 string because I imagine it would be easier to bend notes on. Now my problem is finding one in gold metal flake. That is what I'd really like. Just looks too cool.
