Okay, not real sure what category to post this post in. I have wanted to play Goofus for a number of years. Anyone familiar with the tune? I think it used to be a theme song to some TV show.? Lost and Found does it on their "Just Pickin" CD. Does anyone know where I can find the tab to it or I'd even settle for the chord progression at this point.

Thanks Alan! I'm halfway there. It's not that hard and I love those drag triplets. I heard a lot of mando players last summer and Dempsey's playing was the freshest thing I heard. He has a very interesting style that really appeals to me. I'm sorry we don't read more about him on "The Cafe".

Glad you can read the files, DS. Dempsey showed me that lick once, the thing where he hits 00, 11, 22, 33, 22, 11, 00 using the flat of his fingers in a draggy way, very cool. That man comes up with more licks than I know what to do with!

Two summers ago, he played my F-5 for a whole L&F set, I didn't know that mandolin had those notes on there!!

Yup, what a fresh player. Even though he has done it so many years his stuff is still ever so interesting!!!!

    Done.

As an aside, this summer I saw the L&F at Lil John's festival, where they were celebrating the 40th anniversary of the 1st festival there (was The Bass Mountain festival then). I had an audio show of the band on that very stage from 1981; I gave a copy to Allen Mills. On that show, they played Goofus...the crowd didn't get it, too sophisticated or hip or something. Also, Dempsey made a crack about President Ronald Reagan...shows how vintage that performance/time was.
