I have a lovely old Gibson F4, with Handel Turners but on the back of the turners, in the cog wheel thing, the large screw keeps falling out.

How can I fix this? The turners are in great shape but I just am worried of lossing this screw, as it constantly falls out. And advice??

You can use a bit of gasket sealer comes in a tube black in color so be careful about getting it all over the place but you don't need much just a little in the screw hole and tighten it down sets in a day or so takes up the slack but you can still get the screw off if you need to.

There's also a product specifically made for this job, called Loc-Tite. You find it in harwareand auto parts stores. Apply it, adjust the screw immediately, and then leave it. Once Loc-Tite is set, you can't adjust it again without breaking the bond, necessitating having to start all over.

I wonder what might really be going on. In all my years I have never had this problem with old tuners, with or without that fancy button. But keep me in mind in case you ever lose the screw, I have a large jar full of fresh ones of that weird thread.

Loc-Tite is sold in two formulations: Red and Blue...the former having greater adhesion. I have also had good success
using Teflon tape wrapped around the threads of machine screws, wood screws, and end pins.
