I did some searching and didn't find a thread that answered all my questions - so here goes!

Mandolin - accoustic electric (/sigh - still using my Dean)

Situation - Playing in a rock/country band. Currently I have an old Digitech pedal that functions as my pre-amp and effects pedal. It's old and I'm getting pedal envy looking at the guitarists pedal.

Requirements - Digital Tuner on the pedal (man I hate pulling out my tuner in the middle of a gig). Pre-Amp. Ability to do some effects - I don't need much - but something will be nice - I am looking for an accoustic sound on almost every song.

    Thoughts?

My husband uses one of these for amplified acoustic guitar.

I've a yamaha AG stomp, uses modeling of microphones from pickups system,+ feedback reuction , chorus , delay, reverb agorithims. and tuner LEDs ... seems OK ...
mine has knobs , new ones have scroll thru menu displays and less knobs, USB to download more updates.

Any Digital Delay can be fun. Chorus is fairly common with acoustics too.

I find the output of the SAG Stomp noisy and the tuner next to useless unless your instrument output is quite high. Maybe they've improved - mine is one of the originals. Didn't buy it for the tuner! Suggest you try one first. Anyone know what the nylon string setting on the mic modelling knob is for? Beats me.

    Warning:
The build in tuners of muliteffect boards are designed for guitars!
Some of them don't work with high frequencies.

e.g. the tuner inside of the Yamaha Magicstomp Acoustic ist absolutely useless for mandolins.

I recommend to test the tuner before purchase!

For the record, the one on my AG stomp is useless for guitar as well but, as I said, I didn't buy it for the tuner. Didn't have chance to test my tuners prior to purchase - I was born with them!
