Seems there are better deals on VINTAGE STRADOLIN MANDOLINs in EX. CONDITION for $295.00 Buy It Now or Best Offer: Make Offer

This might just be all solid woods with a carved top.

I think it depends on how you define a better deal. That is, if you are buying to play it or buying for resale. The Stradolin's are great deals for players, but the market is not quite there for doubling or tripling your money. The Gibson's, well, are Gibson's.......
I consider a better deal as possibly a pre-war, all solid wood SOL with a carved top that doesn't need repairs (in EX. CONDITION) for $295.00 Buy It Now or Best Offer: Make Offer (so maybe $250). Nice player regardless of resale.
Love Gibson A models but what I want (in EX. CONDITION) with f-holes & an elevated fretboard are out of my price range... and this thread is (or was) about Stradolins.
I could fall in love with this... https://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/t...88-Gibson-A5-L

FYI this one https://ebay.us/BXR3YA has a split at the base of the neck & will not tune up. It has been sold twice & will no doubt show up again. Hopefully the auction won't read "NO CRACKS, BREAKS OR SIGNS OF REPAIR".
Im interested in grabbing one of these. How do you know if theyre solid wood or laminate?

Found this on ebay https://ebay.us/9nZ0nV looks like he's come down on price.
Question: Is that flame real? Looks too good to be true.

I love the eBay notice (I think it is common to many eBay listings) “Free local Pickup.” Do some sellers charge you if you come to pick it up?

He also states "no shipping" as well as "no Paypal" and "no returns." That is like taking away all the best features of eBay and turning it into Craigslist.....talk about limiting potential buyers......
What I love about eBay is the fact that my stuff is potentially viewed by a worldwide audience of 7.5 billion people and all I have to do is offer Paypal and stick it in a box, fill out a customs form and take it to the post office.......it is pretty easy, really.....
I know it is easier to say no shipping, but that is how you find the buyer in Belgium who will pay more than the buyer in Florida.....
To each his own...
Certainly no weirder than people who scour Craigslist ads in other states when there is no hope the seller is interested in shipping, IMHO.....
Good points! Now, back to the business of this thread. Which is about finding an INEXPENSIVE solid wood Stradolin. I still think this one https://ebay.us/miRFqC (with a good bit of work) would have done nicely. Also, this looks like all solid woods https://ebay.us/eBZoAO (also needing a little work) at $425 + $25 shipping / MAKE OFFER, the seller seems to know it's going to need maybe $100 worth of set-up work & fret work & if you tell him that... he might be more inclined to take an offer of say $325.
